Second XI results
Lindow CC 129 ao (25pts), Weaverham CC 91 ao (5pts)

Our Graham Lays the Law Down to End the Season on a High.

Several members of the 2nd XI descended on a wet Upcast Lane well before the 12.30 start to attempt to dry the pitch and outfield. Amongst those present was our new overseas player Matty Law, who demonstrated his commitment to the club by being one of the first to arrive even though he had only been in the country for a matter of hours. A maximum points win would mean it was still mathematically possible for Lindow to get promotion although we relied on Stretton and Over Peover to lose.

After a good team effort the pitch was declared to be playable and the match began on time. Lindow Captain, Dave Kendrick won the toss and elected to bat on a wet track. more...

Lindow's promotion challenge on a knife edge

A strong Lindow team played host to Alderley Park on Saturday. The away team captain won the toss and put Lindow into bat on a bowler friendly track. more...

LINDOW'S YOUTHFUL TAIL WAGS TO KEEP THE PROMOTION (BARN)DOOR WIDE OPEN

Lindow triumphed against a top of the table Barnton side to maintain their promotion challenge. At the end both teams agreed on what made the difference between the two sides - a resolute and mature final wicket stand of 55 runs between youngsters Alex Pate (22no) and Laurie McClymont (26no), which propelled Lindow from an unconvincing 100-9 from 37 overs to 155-9 at the close. Those eight overs changed the whole complexion of the game, suddenly a confident Barnton team went quiet whilst Lindow were re-energised, fully aware that 155 on a wet Lindow track was a good target to set. more...

Too little too late!

The 2nds were hoping to continue their promotion push and unbeaten streak at home to Alvanley on Saturday. The ground was extremely wet and heavy cloud overhead. Skipper Kendrick won the toss and elected to bat.

In-form Jamie Peel (26) and back from travelling Johnny Barltop (24) opened the batting. Both started to build their innings until Barltop clipped one off his legs to the square leg fielder. The following batsmen never really found their feet and only Hoyle, Kendrick and Coldwell managing to make double figures. This brought Josh Longmore to the crease wielding a weapon known to the Lindow faithful as “THE BAT”. In his first game of the season he took an aggressive approach despatching the Alvanley bowlers of the boundary rope on a number of occasions, eventually running himself out for 42. This left Alvanley with a total of 163 to chase. more...

5 June 2008 - Lindow Second XI vs Malpas (A)

Lindow batsmen reap havoc and the bowlers Peel away at Malpas resistance

After an early start and a long journey contemplating whether a match was possible given the changeable weather conditions, Lindow were put into bat on a good, hard track.

Peel and Wild made a patient start against some accurate bowling, diligently compiling 14 runs from the first 10 overs. Having seen off the opening attack the batsmen began to increase the run rate, piercing the gaps in the field, moving the score onto 100 by the 25th over. more...

28 June 2008 - Lindow 2nd XI vs Weaverham

TENSION PARR FOR THE COURSE AS BOWLERS WEAVE(ERHAM) SOME MAGIC

A period of quality batting and indifferent bowling, sandwiched between two spells that were quite the opposite, ensured a tense finish to the game at Weaverham.

That Lindow 2nd’s held on to win the game says much for the bowlers at the death, and also to some intuitive captaincy from Jason Donovan....sorry, Dave Kendrick. more...

PATE HAS OPPOSITION ON TOAST BEFORE BARNTON-STORMING BATTING WINS THE DAY

A game played out under Armageddon-esque skies and more than occasional drizzle ended in a defeat for Lindow in their top of the table second XI clash at Barnton.

The earlier batting heroics of Alex Pate were in vain, as a Catholic Priest-like lack of penetration with the old ball saw the home side to victory with eight wickets and 4.2 overs in hand. more...

LINDOW TAKE WALK ON THE WILD SIDE AS BARROW ARE BATTERED

Lindow 2nd XI 223 for 7 dec (39 overs) - 25pts, Barrow 2nd XI 84 all out - 4pts

With the recent glorious weather politely holding steady for a Saturday, Lindow 2nds made the trip to Barrow on the back of the previous week’s comfortable home victory of Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge. The relative strengths and experiences of the sides ensured that, whoever won the toss, Lindow would bat first, and so it transpired – the visitors being asked to bat on a firm surface. more...

Lindow 163 All Out - Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge 106 All Out
