Can you Adam and Eve it? 20/20 Win is Taylor Made for Lindow!
21 May 2008, Lindow vs Chelford (a), 20/20 Cup Preliminary Round
Lindow 153 for 9 dec., Chelford 126 for 5
Lindow beat Chelford by 27 runs
Lindow made light of poor early season form to record a comfortable win at Chelford on the back of powerful batting displays from the club’s prodigal son Adam Clarke and emerging youngster Alex Taylor.
Having lost the early wicket of Ed Farmer (0), Clarke and Slinn (17) produced a measured stand and got Lindow through 10 overs without further mishap and with 52 on the board. Slinn fell trying to force the pace, Parr was quickly trapped LBW and Hume was run out cheaply to leave the visitors in some trouble. But Clarke found robust partners in Squires (12) and Hoyle (13) and went to his own half century before exiting the stage and leaving it to Alex Taylor, who produced a remarkable display of free hitting in the last 5 overs before falling near the end for 36.
For a while Chelford made themselves favourites to win, as Parry (49) and Dickenson (27) put on over 80 for the first wicket at around 6 an over, before both fell to the golden arm of Chris Wearne in the same over and the home side never recovered. Unable to produce the required big hitting in the gathering gloom with well-defended boundaries, the reply petered out and Chelford finished 27 runs short, despite having 5 wickets in hand.
